- 4 cups frozen shredded hash browns
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage or bacon (optional)
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Lightly grease a 12-inch ovenproof skillet or pizza pan.
- In a bowl, mix thawed and dried hash browns with melted butter, salt, and black pepper until uniform.
- Press the hash brown mixture evenly into the prepared pan to form a crust.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden-brown and crisp.
- Sprinkle the crust with cheddar cheese, crumbled sausage or bacon, diced bell pepper, and green onions.
- Form wells for the eggs using the back of a spoon.
- Crack an egg into each well and season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 10 to 12 minutes until the egg whites are set.
- Let cool for 3 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For make-ahead preparation, store the cooked crust in the refrigerator for up to one day. Customize toppings to fit your preferences.
