Instructions
- Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Whisk together flour and salt in a separate bowl.
- Pour the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into the dry ingredients. Stir until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Fold in grated carrots, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread cream cheese, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, seal edges, and cut into 1-inch pieces.
- Place the pieces in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla for the frosting.
- Cool rolls briefly before frosting them.
