Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups carrots, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly steam the cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots until just tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then stir in the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until a smooth roux forms, about 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and bubbles, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. In a large baking dish, combine the steamed vegetables with the cheese sauce, mixing gently.
  7. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top if desired.
