Description

Delightful pinwheels made with flaky puff pastry, savory ham, and sharp cheddar cheese, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 ounces sliced ham
  • 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
  3. If using mustard, spread a thin layer evenly across the pastry.
  4. Place the sliced ham in an even layer over the pastry, leaving a small border.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the ham.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Roll the pastry tightly from one end into a log, tucking in the edges as you roll.
  8. Slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels.
  9. Arrange the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Make-ahead by preparing the pinwheels a day in advance and baking when ready to serve.
