Description

Hearty and flavorful sandwiches made with seasoned ground beef and gooey cheddar cheese tucked inside crusty French bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3.5 ounces white cooking wine
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 10.75 ounces condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • Dash of pepper
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and sauté until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Pour in white cooking wine and add garlic, onion powder, and a dash of pepper. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.
  4. Drain excess fat and return the meat mixture to the pan. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and cheddar cheese soup until melted. Remove from heat.
  5. Slice French bread into four sections and cut each in half vertically.
  6. Fill each sandwich half with one quarter of the meat mixture.
  7. Lightly spray the sandwich exteriors, wrap in aluminum foil, and place on a cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 10–15 minutes or until heated through. Unwrap and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to customize with different cheeses or additional vegetables. Make-ahead filling can deepen flavors for quick dinners.
