Description

A stunning and indulgent brunch centerpiece that combines the sweetness of ripe strawberries with creamy custard in a baked French toast casserole.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread (cubed)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups of fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • Butter (for greasing the casserole dish)

Instructions

  1. Cube the French bread and place it evenly in a greased casserole dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and press gently to ensure absorption. Add the sliced strawberries on top.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly, slice, and serve warm with maple syrup and powdered sugar.

Notes

Make-ahead options are available; prepare the night before and refrigerate until ready to bake. This dish can also be made in an air fryer.
