Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg; whisk together.
- Cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; stir in the applesauce and vanilla extract.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before transferring it to a wire rack.
Notes
For a healthier option, substitute half the sugar with honey or maple syrup, or use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose.
