Description

Fluffy breakfast rolls filled with creamy scrambled eggs, savory ham, and gooey cheddar cheese, perfect for a delightful start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup ham, diced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 large eggs, scrambled
  • Butter for brushing
  • Hollandaise sauce for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Make the dough: Stir in flour, salt, and the egg until a dough starts to form. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  4. Prepare for baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Shape the rolls: Roll out the dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread the scrambled eggs, diced ham, and cheese evenly on the surface.
  6. Roll it up: Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly and seal the ends. Slice into equal sections.
  7. Second rise: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake: Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Add a finishing touch: Drizzle with hollandaise sauce before serving if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, consider using a gluten-free flour blend. Make-ahead: Prepare dough the night before and refrigerate overnight.
