Description

Sweet potatoes caramelized in a rich syrup, enhanced with butter, brown sugar, and warm spices for a comforting side dish.


Ingredients

  • 4 large Sweet Potatoes
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into uniform rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Combine the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, water, and salt in a large pot over medium heat. Cook until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the sliced sweet potatoes to the pot, stirring lightly to coat.
  5. Transfer the sweet potatoes to a baking dish, pouring any remaining syrup over the top.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes to caramelize the syrup.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make ahead by preparing a day in advance and store in the refrigerator. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
