Description

A creamy and indulgent cauliflower au gratin, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs and filled with rich flavors of cheese and spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the cauliflower by boiling in salted water until just tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Drain the cauliflower and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter, stir in the flour to create a roux, and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted; season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  7. In a baking dish, combine the cooked cauliflower with the cheese sauce.
  8. Sprinkle the panko breadcrumbs over the mixture.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  10. Serve hot, allowing to cool slightly before enjoying.

Notes

Customize by using different cheeses or adding vegetables like broccoli or mushrooms. Can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
