- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for frosting)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- Pinch of salt (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your cupcake tray with colorful liners.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Mix the sugar and vegetable oil in a separate bowl until combined. Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with batter.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
- Beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add cocoa powder and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Add milk to reach desired consistency, followed by more vanilla and a pinch of salt.
Notes
Frosting should be done once the cupcakes are completely cool to prevent melting.
