Description
A comforting recipe for classic Easy White Bread that fills your home with warmth and nostalgia.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Pour 1 cup of warm water into a large bowl, then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix in the sugar, salt, and vegetable oil, stirring gently until combined.
- Add the all-purpose flour gradually, stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until a shaggy dough begins to form.
- Dust a clean surface with a little flour and turn the dough out. Knead it for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough gently, shape it, and place it in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Cover the loaf again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
- Cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a heartier loaf, substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour. You can also use honey instead of sugar.
