Description

Delicious mini donut bites with a crispy exterior and tender inside, lightly coated in cinnamon-sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a mixing bowl and let it rest for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt in another bowl.
  3. Pour the frothy yeast mixture into the flour mixture along with the melted butter and stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Toss the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough, divide it into bite-sized portions, and roll into small balls.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the dough balls in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  9. Roll warm donut bites in a mixture of sugar and optional cinnamon.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, consider using an air fryer instead of frying.
