Description

A delightful cherry pie made with simple ingredients, capturing the essence of summer and nostalgia in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups cherry filling (fresh or canned)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for topping)
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust onto a lightly floured surface and fit it into your pie dish.
  3. Combine the cherry filling, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl.
  4. Pour the cherry mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Dot the filling with pieces of butter, if desired.
  6. Cover with a second pie crust, crimping the edges to seal, and cut slits in the top crust.
  7. Brush the top crust with egg wash for a glossy finish.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the filling bubbles.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh cherries in season or high-quality canned cherries. Let the pie cool to firm up the filling before slicing.
