Description

Decadent pecan pie cinnamon rolls that combine the warmth of cinnamon rolls with the sweetness of pecan pie, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup pecan pie filling
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt in a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Transfer to a greased bowl, cover with a dish towel, and let rise in a warm environment until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  3. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.
  4. Spread the pecan pie filling over the dough, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  5. Create a log by rolling the dough tightly from one long edge. Slice into 1-2 inch thick pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover the rolls with a towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with toasted pecans.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for better dough rise. Consider making the rolls up to the second rise and refrigerating overnight for convenience.
