Description

A vibrant blend of sweetness and heat, this Sweet and Spicy Chili Sauce with Pineapple offers a tantalizing flavor perfect for dipping, drizzling, or glazing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Fresh Pineapple, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 12 tsp Red Chili Flakes
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Fresh Ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by finely chopping fresh pineapple, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Heat the Saucepan: Place your medium-sized saucepan on medium heat. Add the chopped pineapple, garlic, and ginger into the pan, letting them sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the Other Ingredients: Pour in the rice vinegar and soy sauce, followed by the sugar and red chili flakes.
  4. Simmer: Allow the sauce to come to a gentle simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water, then gradually add this mixture to the sauce while stirring.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Give your sauce a taste and feel free to add more chili flakes or sugar as desired.
  7. Cool and Store: Remove the sauce from heat, let cool, and transfer to a jar.

Notes

This sauce can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to a week. For a smoky flavor, consider grilling the pineapple beforehand.
