Description

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 oranges, quartered
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, and sage)
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey: Remove the giblets from the cavity, pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Season the exterior with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stuff the turkey with quartered oranges, lemon, onion, and fresh herbs.
  5. Roast the turkey in a roasting pan with chicken broth in the bottom.
  6. Cook for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  7. Baste hourly with pan drippings.
  8. Rest the turkey for at least 20 minutes before carving.
